Therapeutic magnets: myth or reality?
The benefits of therapeutic magnets: myth or reality?
You may have heard of therapeutic magnets without really knowing what to make of them. Between miraculous promises and total skepticism, the truth lies somewhere in between. Let's take a look.
What is a therapeutic magnet?
Therapeutic magnets are permanent magnets integrated directly into wearable supports—belts, knee pads, bracelets—designed to be worn in contact with the skin. Unlike ordinary magnets, they are calibrated to emit a stable and constant magnetic field, capable of interacting with surrounding biological tissues.
The idea is not new. The Chinese used magnetic stones for therapeutic purposes more than 2,000 years ago. Only recently has modern science begun to seriously study these effects.
What science says
Several studies have observed positive effects of magnetotherapy on blood circulation. The magnetic field is believed to act on red blood cells, which contain iron, improving their fluidity and circulation in the capillaries. The result: better tissue oxygenation and a reduction in local inflammation.
A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis who wore therapeutic magnets experienced a significant reduction in pain compared to the placebo group.
Other research has highlighted an effect on the production of endorphins—natural pain-relieving hormones—stimulated by exposure to the magnetic field.
These results are still debated in the scientific community, and larger-scale studies are needed. But one thing is clear: for many people, the effects are very real.
Concretely, what are they used for?
Therapeutic magnets are particularly used for:
🦵 Joint pain — knees, hips, ankles. They reduce inflammation and improve mobility, especially in cases of osteoarthritis.
🔙 Lower back pain — worn on the lower back, they relieve muscle spasms and chronic tension.
🧠 Muscle fatigue — by promoting microcirculation, they accelerate recovery after physical exertion.
cervicales Neck pain — integrated into suitable supports, they help release accumulated tension in the neck and shoulders.
Myth or reality? Our verdict
Therapeutic magnets are not a miracle cure. They do not replace medical treatment and do not cure serious pathologies. But to call their effects a pure invention would be inaccurate.
For mild to moderate chronic pain, worn regularly and in addition to a healthy lifestyle, they represent a natural, non-invasive solution with no side effects. It is precisely for this reason that more and more physiotherapists and sports doctors recommend them to their patients.
The reality is that thousands of people use them daily and experience a real improvement in their comfort. And that's already a lot.
How to get the most out of them?
For therapeutic magnets to be effective, a few simple rules:
- Wear them directly on the skin or over a very thin fabric
- Use them 2 to 6 hours a day regularly
- Combine them with infrared heat to amplify the effects (as in our Corp Libre products)
- Be patient — effects are felt after a few days of regular use
⚠️ Contraindication: not recommended for people with a pacemaker or metal implants. Consult your doctor if in doubt.
At Corp Libre, our therapeutic products incorporate high-quality magnets, combined with tourmaline infrared technology, for natural and lasting relief. Discover our range and regain the comfort of moving without pain.
